Fast food is the term given to food that can be prepared and served very quickly. While any meal with low preparation time can be considered to be fast food, typically the term refers to food sold in a restaurant or store with low quality preparation and served to the customer in a packaged form for take-out/take-away.
Franchise operations which are part of restaurant chains have standardized foodstuffs shipped to each restaurant from central locations for example like KFC, McDonald's, Pizza Hut, Nando's and so on. in Pakistan. The capital requirements involved in opening up a fast food restaurant are relatively low. Smaller, individually-owned fast food restaurants are becoming much more common throughout the world. Even fast food have become a phenomena in Malaysia even through out the world, this have come up some issue such as globalization, jobs and labor issues and health issue.
Fast food has become one of the fastest-growing segments of Pakistani hotel and catering industry. This growth has not only been fuelled by consumer demand, but also through the expansion of the supply base.
Fast-food menus have been limited in breadth and depth of product mix, as the market has matured. Presently in the country, numbers of chains are able to offer a new experience to their existing customers and possibly appeal to a new customer base.
In the United States, product diversity has taken a branded route, with companies supplying complementary products in order to create branded stores. The capital requirements involved in opening up a fast food restaurant are relatively low. Restaurants with much higher sit-in ratios, where customers tend to sit and have their orders brought to them in a seemingly more upscale atmosphere may be known in some areas as fast casual restaurants.
Furthermore, Fri-chicks also a foreign fast food restaurant and they have been working in Lahore since 2003 and still running their business.
Fast food is offering take away facility, dine in and home delivery service. They have several deals with the normal price rate. Pakistan's economy is becoming increasingly service-oriented, and over the past several decades, the foodservice industries that offer the highest levels of convenience have been rewarded with strong sales growth. In the face of rising population, incomes and increasingly hectic work schedules, a nearly insatiable demand for convenience will continue to drive fast food sales. Fast food outlets will strive to find ways to make their products even more accessible.

Top few food commodities are recorded increase as compared to previous month i.e. October 2012: chicken (7.69%), tea (6.71%), eggs (6.49%), betal leaves & nuts (2.67%), honey (2.57%), jam, tomato ketchup & pickles (2.35%), wheat (2.12%), dry fruits (1.79%), fish (1.35%), beans (1.21%), wheat flour (1.11%) and milk fresh (1.06%). While, year-on-year basis top few food commodities which increased from previous year i.e. November 2011 are: pulse gram (44.30%), besan (42.57%), eggs (24.70%), honey (23.60%), beans (20.81%), milk powder (15.89%), gram whole (13.55%), rice (12.87%), milk fresh (11.81%), cooking oil (11.76%), and nimco (10.96%).
It is being said that the eating fast food is linked to a greater risk of suffering from depression. It is noted that there is a growing volume of consumers especially for fast food restaurants. The consumers of fast food, compared to those who eat little or none, are 51 per cent more likely to develop depression.
