Presently, the role of Higher education as a major driver of economic development is well established, and this role will increase as further changes in technology, globalization, and demographics impact the world. To remain competitive in light of these changes, countries/regions will need to improve productivity and adopt an innovative spirit. Higher education has the capacity, knowledge, and research necessary to help achieve these goals. Higher education produces critical thinkers and innovators, as well as healthy, informed and engaged citizens. Moreover, world's higher education institutions and universities have driven research and provided the facilities for innovative business ideas and political theories that have shaped the fortunes of cities, regions and even nations. So, Pakistan's high economic growth and access to new technologies is also associated with higher education.

In the country, KASBIT University is known for its leadership in education, and its faculty members are passionate and curious individuals who continue their own research while teaching at KASBIT. They are coming from across the country and bringing with them a diverse wealth of knowledge. The mission of KASBIT is to advance their knowledge and educate students that will best serve the nation in the 21st century.

The University offers courses in essentially all academic disciplines at both undergraduate and graduate levels and conducts research across the full spectrum of academic activity under the dynamic leadership.

The institute also aims to provide its students with a rich and research-based academic environment that ensures opportunities for both intellectual development and the acquisition of professional skills. The graduates of this singular institute have gone to become leaders in the leading organizations. KASBIT private limited which is the parent body of KASBIT was established in 1999, through registration with SECP. It is the first private sector institute of higher education which is registered as a corporate body. Since its inception the institute has achieved many a mile-stones advocating standard, excellence and quality recognition. KASBIT is the first institute which has earned ISO-9001 certification in 2002, in recognition of its high quality control system. By virtue of this, the institute became the first ISO-9001 certified degree awarding institute in the private sector in the country. The management of the institute is highly conscious of attaining high standard and recognition amongst its peers through performance based achievements. KASBIT has established a number of academic and research clubs to enhance the spectrum of its mission.

KASBIT is recognized by HEC as one of the top Universities of Pakistan and is chartered by the Government of Sindh. KASBIT is a member of the association of advance collegiate schools of business (AACSB).

KASBIT organizes advisor-student conferences at least once a semester. However, the students are responsible for adhering to institute policies and procedures. Students are assigned academic advisor / counselor and the names of the advisors / counselors are announced by the departments concerned.

KASBIT's undergraduate program includes BBA 4 year's program. However, the graduates would be required to complete a major area of specialization in finance, marketing management, MIS, banking, hotel management and HRM.

While, Postgraduate programs include, MBA 2 year's program which helps students in preparing for a variety of careers in the field of marketing, HR, finance and others in both public and private sectors.

KASBIT also offers a two year master program which requires completion of seventy two credit hours of course work including six credit hours final project. The program consists of four semesters. For those students who obtained their BBA degree the MBA program is of a shorter duration.

Number of courses is exempted and the required course load of a two year MBA program is reduced from seventy two credit hours to a thirty credit hours program, course load to be completed in two regular semesters followed with dissertation of six credit hours in the field of choice.

The one-year full-time taught Master's (MS / MPhil - 2 Years) programs require 30 credit hours including 24 credit hours of course work. Scholars receive an education both in management aspects and in essential areas of business administration, such as technology policy, company formation, finance and management, global economics and sustainable development.

The PhD (3 Years research-oriented degree program) produces scholars and independent researchers. All doctoral scholars in the KASBIT are expected to learn how to analyze and synthesize the research literature in a chosen field; how to plan and initiate original research; and how to translate research findings into implications for educational practice. This program is unique, offering an integrated curriculum. KASBIT's leading-edge research programmes enable their students to solve real-country problems which benefit businesses and the community.

FUTURE OUTLOOK

The primary objective of government policy in the last few years has been to improve the level and quality of education in Pakistan. The enrolment of 1.41 million was estimated in 2011- 12 in higher education (universities) over 1.11 million in 2010-11. The present government's strategy for the sector includes improving the quality of education, increasing enrolment and improving access to education. No doubt, KASBIT faculty discovers and applies new knowledge through teaching and learning, research and creative activity for developing human capital in Pakistan.
