PUNJAB'S SHARE IN AGRICULTURE

Pakistan is an agriculture country and on the way to industrialization. Agriculture plays a vital role in the country's economy in terms of backward and forward linkages. It serves the industry through providing raw materials while it serves the community through providing foods.

All the four provinces of Pakistan can play their due roles in accelerating the growth of agricultural sector and only that can multiply the gross development products of the country. While all provinces are contributing towards national agriculture outputs, contribution of the province of Punjab towards the sector is relatively high.

The chart outlines the basic data related to major crops of Punjab and its shares in total outputs (cotton, maize, wheat, sugarcane, and rice), minor crops (gram, bajra, jawar, rapeseed, and mustard), fruits (citrus, mango, and guava), and vegetables (potato, peas, onions and tomatoes).
