Seven leading universities in Pakistan have joined the Oracle Academy and have integrated its Advanced Computer Science and Enterprise Business Applications programs into their IT curricula enabling their students to have access to world-class technical curriculum and gain hands-on experience with Oracle's industry-leading database, middleware, and applications software.

Participating universities include FAST National University; NUST School of Engineering and Computer Science; International Islamic University, Islamabad; Institute of Space Technology; Institute of Business Administration; Beacon House National University; and Mohammad Ali Jinnah University.

The Oracle Academy provides a complete portfolio of software, curriculum, hosted technology, faculty training, and certification resources to higher education institutions. Faculty can insert these resources into computer science and business programs, ensuring that students gain industry-relevant skills prior to entering the workforce.

"The Oracle Academy will provide a competitive edge, especially to students pursuing degrees in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), and Business. These students will be able to develop highly marketable skills and industry knowledge prior to entering the workforce," said Dr. Sayeed Ghani, Associate Dean, Faculty of Computer Science, and Institute of Business Administration.

The program efficiently combines theoretical concepts with practical, hands-on knowledge of advanced tools and technologies," said Dr. Anwar Majeed Mirza, Head of the Computer Science Department, FAST National University.

Emaar Pakistan, the country subsidiary of Emaar Properties PJSC, has successfully completed the first year of the deployment of Oracle E-Business Suite at its regional office.

"Emaar Pakistan implemented Oracle ERP as a step forward in adopting new technologies and as part of the management's efforts to achieve greater efficiency in Emaar Pakistan's operations," said Emaar Pakistan CEO Dr. Dia Malaeb, at a ceremony held to celebrate the successful completion of the first year.

Pakistan has been the first country in Emaar's international operations to implement Oracle ERP leading the way for other markets such as Turkey, Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and others, which are starting to implement the system.

Emaar Pakistan was also the first real-estate development company in Pakistan to make real-time use of a robust ERP solution for managing its property sales. Oracle (ERP) application suite was identified as a key business requirement by Emaar International Risk Management Group, Dubai. Its implementation at Emaar Pakistan has enabled the finance, sales, property and purchase modules to be interlinked allowing all sales launches to be conducted online and Emaar to continue its focus on customer satisfaction.

With the implementation of eleven modules, the project was completed in record time of six months and achieved hundred percent objectives, in terms of time and costs. Since the successful Go-Live on January 1, 2008, the program has proved very successful in data gathering and reporting, and has supported an increase in customer satisfaction.

ZTEsoft Technology Limited, an international hardware and software vendor providing IPTV Billing system and Billing & Customer care (B&CC) Managed Service to PTCL, signed an agreement with Inbox for acquiring technology infrastructure solution. This acquisition will help ZTE in providing efficient and productive solution to PTCL resulting in improved and upgraded Customer Care services for PTCL customers. It will help PTCL is expanding its network and means of facilitating its customers throughout the country.

The technology solution that Inbox will be providing covers deployment of hardware, software and support services for IBM Products which include IBM System P 595 Power Machine based on Unix for production site and Disaster Recovery Site; and IBM backup servers; IBM TS3500 Tape Library; and IBM Tivoli Storage Manager Extended Edition, IBM Tivoli Storage Manager Storage Area Networks, and IBM Tivoli Storage Manager for Databases.

All the IBM Servers and Tape Libraries deployed at PTCL come with 3-years onsite parts and labor warranty and 24x7 support services along with backup software as a value added service by Inbox.

This implementation will help PTCL and ZTE in a number of ways. The servers provided by Inbox will help ZTE deliver exceptional performance, reliability, scalability and flexibility to PTCL while upgrading their billing system. There would be an improvement in the business continuity of PTCL by automation of their data backup and recovery with the help of IBM Tivoli Storage Manager and enhancement of the data availability, security and regulatory compliance at PTCL by IBM Tape Libraries.

ZTE has always focused on providing best internal systems to PTCL and with the help on Inbox, they will continue doing so.
