CONCLUSION

The country has witnessed a huge amount of increase in imports. During the last five years the imports have increased more than twice which is alarming for the economy of Pakistan. The government has failed to provide a conducive environment for the investors because of political instability in our country. Recently, Our Government didn't mention any specific imports targets for the current fiscal year. However, the figures of nearly $ 40bn are speculated. The custom duty of imports on CNG buses was brought down to zero from 15%. The government has also allowed the imports of diesel and fuel oil from India as the govt has opened the doors of trade with India. The Govt must ban the imports of luxurious items immediately in order to decrease budget deficit.
