CHINA, INDIA AND PAKISTAN

CHINA'S BUDGET FY07

The country's military budget for FY07 is roughly US$44.94 billion, 17.8 per cent increase as compared to last year's allocation of $6.8 billion, whereas education sector distribution has been increased by 41.7% i.e. $11 billion. Central government will also set aside $4 billion for medical and health for possible future incurring costs as increase by 86.8 percent over 2006.

 

INDIA'S BUDGET FY07

The share of Indian's defense budget is 2.29 percent of GDP i.e. an increase of 7.23% in FY06-07 as compare to FY04-05 stood at Rs89 billion. In budget FY06-07 allocation for education and healthcare has been enhanced by 34.2% and 21.9% to Rs24.12 billion and Rs12.546 billion respectively comparing to the last year.

 

PAKISTAN'S BUDGET FY07

Pakistan's defense budget is estimated at Rs.250.2 billion for FY07. In comparison with FY06 Pakistan's defense budget as percentage to GDP has been declined to 2.8 3.1 percent in FY07. In FY07 share of education including HEC has been increased to Rs.22.9 billion up by 52.7%, whilst share of health and population sectors amounted to Rs.15.4 billion portray an upside of 21.3 percent from 2005-06.
