COMMENTS: The local currency showed a negative trend versus dollar in the open market this week. The US dollar set off new week's trading at Rs. 59/80 on Monday, rupee shed grounds on the desks and changed hands at Rs. 60/03 at close of markets on Saturday. Thus, rupee incurred a loss of 0/23 paisa versus dollar in the kerb.

COMMENTS: Pound Sterling showed a decline in its price against the local currency this week. The cable kicked off trading at Rs. 104/10 on Monday; kept losing against rupee and changed hands at Rs. 103/50 at close of markets on Saturday. Thus, the national currency registered a gain of Rs. 1/60 overall at close of markets.

COMMENTS: Rupee gave up grounds against the single currency in the kerb this week. Euro started off new week's trading at Rs. 70/10 on Monday, started accumulating grounds and changed hands at Rs. 70/20 at close of markets on Saturday. Therefore, rupee recorded a loss of 0/10 paisa on the desks versus euro in the open market.

COMMENTS: The Japanese Yen showed a negative trend versus rupee in the kerb this week too. Trading began at 0/503-0/505 and by showing a loss changed hands at a price level of 0/499-0/50. Thus, rupee ended the week on an upbeat note against Yen.
