ANNUAL PROGRESS REPORT FOR JULY
The Institute of Business
Administration (IBA), University of Sindh, formerly known as Institute
of Business Studies (IBS), is the second oldest business school in
Pakistan and was established in 1979 under the dynamic leadership of
(late) Professor Nabi Bakhsh Daudpota.
The institute was renamed from
IBS to IBA in 1999, as proposed by Prof. Dr. Anwar Ali Shah G. Syed.
PROGRAMS OF STUDIES OFFERED.
The Institute offers following
morning and evening programs of studies:
Three year (six semesters) Bachelor Degree BBA(Hons) program and one
year (two semesters) Masters in Business Administration.
MBA direct degree program two-year (four semesters) Master Degree.
Two-year (six semesters) MBA evening program specially designed for
in-service personnel and others striving to improve career
Our endeavors have been well
rewarded and our graduates of Business Administration are now employed
in senior positions in the fields of Management, Marketing, Accounting,
Finance, Insurance and Information Technology etc., at middle and top
levels of Management in various government, semi-government, private,
local and foreign multinational organizations within and outside the

RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT AND
The IBA faculty members are
actively involved in Teaching & Research Work.
Four faculty members of this
Institute are enrolled in MS and Ph.D programs of studies in different
universities, two within the country and two out of the country in
respective universities of China and Japan. Four following faculty

UPGRADING OF RESEARCH

Prof. Dr. Iqbal Ahmed Panhwar,
Department of Economics, University of Sindh, Jamshoro spoke and
delivered a comprehensive lecture on
"Guide lines for tackling
Business and Marketing case studies" for students of various
morning program of studies during the month of September 2004 at IBA.
Honorable Mazharul Haq Siddiqui,
vice-Chancellor, University of Sindh was the Chief Guest on that
occasion. The faculty and students attended the lecture and learned new
ACADEMIC AND EXTRA-CURRICULAR
Mr. Nadeem Ahmed Thaheem and Miss. Baby Sanam Khoso, students of this
Institute for the academic year 2004, were selected and offered
eight-weeks Internship Training at State Bank of Pakistan, Karachi.
The above named candidates were
ranked in Grade-A=81 to 100 out of 51 candidates mixture of regional
diversity of various disciplines, during eight weeks internship program
2004 of State Bank of Pakistan, Karachi.
A letter of appreciation was
forwarded in this regard and addressed to honorable Mazharul Haq
Siddiqui, vice-Chancellor of our University by Mr. Muhammad Mazharul Haq,
Joint Director, State Bank of Pakistan, Karachi.
The State Bank of Pakistan,

A declamation contest on "Life and work of Allama I.I.Kazi" at
Nabi Bakhsh Daupota Auditorium, IBA Building, University of Sindh,
Jamshoro was held under the umberlla of Faculty of Commerce and Business
Administration. Following students/speakers won prizes:
Mr. Syed Kazim Ali Shah, Student of BBA(Hons) Part-III-Secured 1st
Mr. Abdul Wahid Shaikh Student of BBA(Hons) Part-III-Secured 3rd
Mr. Syed Kazim Ali Shah secured 1st position in 9th Allama Iqbal Shield
interdepartmental English debate competition on 14th February, 2005. He
also secured 2nd position in inter-university debate competition,
organized by Radio Pakistan, Hyderabad on 10th April, 2005.
Ms. Paras Abro Student of BBA(Hons) part-II secured 2nd position in 9th
Allama Iqbal Shield inter department Urdu debate competition on 14th

Sattar Shah, Assistant Professor, IBA.
Business Internship Program
The students of BBA(Hons)
Part-III and MBA(Final) Hons and Pass as well as students of MBA(Evening)
program completed their eight weeks training program at various
industrial, commercial and financial organizations in Karachi, Hyderabad
and other cities of Pakistan as a partial fulfillment of their degree
requirements under the guidance of faculty members of this Institute.
Research monograph Report.
The students of MBA(Evening)
Program prepared research reports on different Business, Social and
Economic issues under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Anwar Ali Shah G. Syed.
Ms. Sumaira Shaikh and Ms.
Paras Bhatti, Students of BBA(Hons) Part. III participated in
interdepartmental girls bedminton championship and inter-collegiate
bedminton championship 2005. They won trophy for interdepartmental girls
bedminton championship 2005.
ALL PAKISTAN STUDY TOUR:
All Pakistan study tour was
arranged for MBA (final) students under the supervision of Mr. Muhammad
Aslam Pathan, Assistant Professor and Incharge Students Affairs, IBA
during June-July 2004.
