COMMENTS: The rupee started new week on its overnight positive note and continued to trade at the same through out strengthening its grip further on the US dollar. We saw a spiky and gradual recovery in the price of rupee as the demand was normal making it easy for the available supply in the market to cover it up.

COMMENTS: Sterling started new week on a promising note but rupee came back strongly and cancelled off the rising trend of the currency at weekend. Rupee showed a steady rise in the trading amid increase in supply of the currency there in the kerb dealings and back drop faced by sterling against greenback on the international desks.

COMMENTS: The rupee continued to face severe resistance against euro this week too amid its continuous gains against the greenback in the international market. Euro continued to trade over the Rs. 80/- mark in the trading as the currency was strong against greenback in the international market for most of the time. Euro started at Rs80/15 and finally touched at Rs.80/40 which is its highest price ever recorded here in the kerb dealings.

COMMENTS: With its week performance against greenback in the international markets, rupee was able to build pressure on yen here in the kerb too. The demand of currency remained within normal range and yen continued to trade at a price level of 0.568-0.570 this week which was lower than its price at close of last week. Overall, yen sensed pressure against rupee and fall in its price was recorded at weekend.
