COMMENTS: The Pak rupee rose against the greenback this week and thus some breaks were pulled on the persisting falling trend of rupee both in the kerb as well as in the inter bank markets. The State Bank of Pakistan's decision on Saturday to start paying for oil imports from its resesves was the key factor in boosting the rupee this week. Besides with rupee gaining, the exporters also started selling their dollars, improving the supply, and giving further strength to the rupee.

COMMENTS: Pound sterling which is enjoying its all-time highs against the rupee showed a turn around and rupee managed to come up in the dealings, this week. Trading started at Rs. 112/90 but at weekend, the rupee had gained Rs. 1/90 as the trading was taking place at Rs. 111/00. Earlier, sterling had set new all-time highs against rupee and the national currency fell to all-time lows at Rs. 112/90. But with increase in supply of currency and its downward trend against greenback in the international market, the rupee got some support and thus ended current week on a firmer note.

COMMENTS: The rupee managed to make a swift recovery against euro initially this week but fell afterwards to close markets on a weak note. The national currency came back strongly against euro at the start of this week and gained significant grounds. But later on, it failed to maintain the solid standing as euro again started to rise against the greenback on the international desks.

COMMENTS: A mix trend was observed in the price of yen against the rupee this week and the currency continued to behave under its international market trend. With its mixed bag of performance highlighted by rise and falls against greenback in the international markets, yen was able to behave the same way here in the kerb as well.
