Allianz EFU the specialized healthcare insurer in Pakistan recently participated in the 'International Peace Festival' with the Rotaract Clubs of Pakistan, to celebrate the 100 years of global Rotary movement.
The conference was organized by the Rotaract Clubs of Pakistan. Alliance Francaise, Comiatato Dante Alighieri, British Council, Innerwheel International and International Womens Club were the strategic partners of the event.
The conference with the theme "Vision for Peace and Goodwill" bridged international boundaries as young delegates from all over the world converged to exchange a healthy flow of ideas and views.

The United Nations and business sector of Pakistan have agreed to create a Global Compact Foundation which will act as the principle instrument for institutionalization of the Global Compact agenda in Pakistan. This was decided in a meeting of the Global Compact Steering Board that was attended by Mr. Babar Ali, Pro- Chancellor of LUMS, Mr. Onder Yucer, UN Resident Coordinator and representatives of the private and public sectors. The Steering Board agreed to launch the Global Compact Foundation as a not-for-profit company under Section 42 of the Companies Ordinance 1984 which will abide by the Code of Corporate Governance. Mr. Babar Ali was nominated to lead the process of establishing the Foundation. The Global Compact is aimed at encouraging the business community in Pakistan to voluntarily abide by nine principles of the Global Compact in the areas of human rights, environmental rights and labour rights

Each company and organization actively involved in the Global Compact Pakistan activities will be encouraged to formally subscribe to the Global Compact, committing to adhere to and take active steps towards the actualization of the nine principles of the Global Compact. This commitment is expressed through a letter addressed to the UN Secretary General, upon which the organisation shall receive the status of a Global Compact Participant. The Global Compact is an open network. However, the participating company shall demonstrate on a yearly basis its actual progress in implementing the Global Compact principles.


Kodak Limited (Pakistan Branch) recently launched its Digital Services at its Kodak Express Outlets in Karachi, Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad and Rahim Yar Khan. Mr. K. Mori, General Manager and Mr. K. B. Leong, Manager Sales, South West Asia represented the team from Noritsu Koki Co. Ltd., Japan at the inauguration of the labs at various cities in Pakistan.

A senior delegation of Qatar Airways representatives has landed in Islamabad to open the airline's new office in Islamabad and officially inaugurate its new twice-weekly Islamabad service that began on April 1.

The delegation, led by Chief Executive Officer Mr. Akbar Al Baker, also included the General Manager Commercial Mr. Mohamed Saleh Fakhri and Senior Manager Commercial Operations - East Mr. Ali Al Rais.

Chief Executive Officer Mr. Akbar Al Baker officially inaugurated the Doha-Islamabad route with the opening of Qatar Airways' new office, in a special ceremony.

At a press conference, held at the Serena Hotel in the capital recently, Mr. Al Baker expressed his delight to be in Islamabad: "I am very pleased to finally be able to open this route officially.

"Islamabad represents our 49th international destination, and our fourth destination in Pakistan, after Lahore, Karachi and Peshawar.

"This route reflects Qatar Airways' strong commitment to serve the people of Pakistan and provide a direct route from our country to the capital city of Pakistan.

"Via our hub, Doha International Airport, we will be able to connect the people of Islamabad to all of our 48 existing destinations. By the end of the year 2005, we will be able to offer connections to 70 destinations around the globe.

"We have been intending to open this service for a long time, and it is very satisfying that we are flying into Islamabad two times per week. Together with our other regular services to Karachi, Lahore and Peshawar, we offer thirteen direct flights between Qatar and Pakistan every week," Mr. Al Baker said.

Qatar Airways has recently been awarded the exclusive honour to be one of only three worldwide airlines to have been granted the Five-star status by independent airline quality monitor Skytrax. Additionally, the airline was voted into seventh place in the ranking of best worldwide airlines, jumping up from 24th place last year.

One of the world's fastest growing airlines, Qatar Airways has recently received two new Airbus A321s, part of a delivery of thirteen aircraft this year.

As part of the expansion plan the airline has announced that it will be flying to Tehran and Luxor in June, Zurich and Istanbul in July, and Kabul, Osaka, Johannesburg by January 2005. Serving 60 destinations by early 2005, Qatar airways will be flying to 70 global destinations by the end of 2005.

Qatar Airways flies from Doha to Islamabad twice each week. Every Wednesday flight QR398 will leave Doha at 23.00 hrs, arriving in Islamabad at 4.30 hrs the next morning. On Sundays, flight QR398 will depart from Doha at 21.45 hrs, arriving in Islamabad at 3.15 hrs the following morning, local time.

Flight QR399 from Islamabad to Doha will leave Islamabad Airport at 5.45 hrs, arriving at Doha International Airport at 7.25 hrs, every Thursday. On Mondays, flight QR399 will leave Islamabad at 4.30 hrs, arriving in Doha at 6.10 hrs local time.


Interflow Communications held a unique, groundbreaking event for employees and clients on Saturday, the 8th of May 2004 at Avari Towers. This event was the Grand Finale of the agency's third successive, 4 month long Training Program, 'Team Inspiration'. The event was a resounding success. It was well attended by members from Group Companies and Interflow clients including Unilever, UBL, Nestle, Mitchell's, EBM, Gillette and Indus Motor Company.

During the Course, different groups of employees were given the task of developing entire Creative Campaigns for some of Interflow's prominent brands. A competition was held for the 360 Degree Brand Stewardship Champions 2004 and one out of the 5 groups walked away with the Grand Prize on account of the most creative, innovative and insightful campaign.

Interflow plans to continue this exercise every year as a step toward greater creativity, client understanding and talent development.
