Committed to growth and expansion of exploration activity and an improvement on its past record of successes, Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL), a pioneer in the upstream sector, looks to tomorrow's challenges with buoyancy, determination.

The Company has a team of dedicated professionals who work day and night to maintain the status of PPL as a leading organization in the energy sector of Pakistan.

It is well known that Pakistan Petroleum Limited has played a significant role in the economic development of Pakistan. Today it is actively pursuing exploration activities in 14 blocs in all the 4 provinces of the country, as an operator or a joint venture partner.

It is the largest producer of natural gas in Pakistan (Sui field), and to maintain this status, PPL has embarked upon a dynamic programme to enhance its exploration portfolio, and plans to drill at least 35 wells in the next 5 years.

Incorporated in 1950, PPL discovered Sui Gas Field in 1952, the first in the subcontinent, which still contributes around 30 percent of the total natural gas production in the country.

The historic discovery at Sui was followed by discovery of natural gas reserves at Kandhkot in 1959 and at Adhi in 1978. Regular production from Kandhkot Gas Field and Adhi Field commenced in 1984 and 1991 respectively.

Though gas was discovered at Mazarani Field, forty years ago, it has been developed by PPL recently. The field has reserves of 10-11 million cubic feet.

Simultaneously, PPL remains happily a responsible corporate citizen, contributing substantially to the community development, in the areas of its operations in particular, and elsewhere in the country in general with particular emphasis on providing health, education and infrastructure development for the underprivileged.

"Service to the people living on the land we operate" has been PPL's motto since its first welfare works began in Sui. With the inception of its operations, the Company has successfully endeavoured to provide facilities and amenities often unknown to the people of the area.

Under its revised, upgraded, community development programme, PPL has completed various projects to facilitate the local population around its operational areas, promoting educational activities, health care facilities, expansion of infrastructure and general welfare. This sustained community development activity has resulted in an improvement of lifestyle of people living in the rural areas of Pakistan.
