Tetra Pak Pakistan has taken a unique initiative for creating mass awareness for recycling by launching a Back to School campaign in over one hundred schools. The campaign aims to educate and inform school children about the concept of recycling, its dire need and its multiple benefits. The objective is to ensure a better tomorrow for Pakistan by creating a sense of responsibility in the citizens of the future.

The schools campaign is being run by volunteers, comprising degree level students of environmental sciences from top colleges. The volunteers were first trained by Tetra Pak to give interactive and lively presentations to school children. The presentations explained graphically how firstly Tetra Pak cartons after use (post consumer waste) are collected and taken to redemption centres for storage. From here the waste is taken to the factory, where it is passed through machines called pulpers which convert the cartons into simple fibres. The fibres are then converted into rolls and sheets which can be used to manufacture a wide range of products such as toilet rolls, tissue boxes, even gift items and furniture like school tables and parks benches.
