PAK SUZUKI MOTOR ANNIVERSARY
Pak Suzuki celebrated its 20 years success
anniversary on 13th August, 2003. Minister of Industries and
Production Mr. Liaquat Ali Jatoi was the Chief Guest on this occasion,
Chairman & CEO, Suzuki Motor Corporation (Japan), Mr. Osamu
Suzuki, who was bestowed by Sitar-e-Pakistan, along with Mr. S.
Nakanishi, Managing Director SMC (Japan) and other officials from
Japan were present on this occasion. During his visit to Pakistan Mr.
Osamu Suzuki, Chairman & CEO SMC Japan and his team which include
Mr. Y. Suzuki Managing Director of Pak Suzuki, has meeting with
President of Pakistan, Prime Minister of Pakistan, Minister of
Industries & Production and Minister of Finance.
Pak Suzuki offered food relief worth Rs. One
million to Federal Minister of Industries & Production Mr. Liaquat
Ali Jatoi for people effected by rain and flood in Sindh.
It is worth to be noted that Pak Suzuki Motor
Company is the Pioneer in Indigenization and played a very important
role in the engineering sector by promoting and encouraging the
downstream vendor industries. So far Pak Suzuki has an investment of
Rs. Ten Billion in the form of Assets, Machinery and Human Resources
Development along with Transfer of Technology. Thus, the biggest
foreign investment in automobile sector of Pakistan. Pak Suzuki is
continuously steering ahead in further development in all sectors of
automobile industry. So far, Pak Suzuki has achieved the highest

INDONESIAN TRADE DELEGATION
A high powered delegation of 20 businessmen,
exporters and senior executives led by the Indonesian Minister for
Trade and Industry H.E. Rini Sumarno Soewandi held a long discussion
with the business community at the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce &
Industry (ICCI) and stressed that Pakistan and Indonesia together
represent a booming market of 350 people and bilateral trade between
the two brotherly countries should be enhance from the present low
volume of total trade of US$ 349 million. The Indonesian Minister Mrs.
Soewandi stated that the two Muslim countries have age-old friendship
and understanding and have been trading with each other for several
years and this asset should be reflected in increasing partnership in
two-way trade. Mrs. Soewandi urged Pakistani businessmen to visit
Indonesia and explore projects for increasing the volume of trade
relating to the commodities and goods being traded at present between
the two countries.
PSO SIGNS CASH MANAGEMENT ACCORD WITH HBL
Pakistan State Oil (PSO) has signed a Cash
Management Accord with Habib Bank Limited (HBL). The agreement was
signed by Mr Tariq Kirmani, Managing Director of PSO, and Mr Zakir
Mahmood, President of Habib Bank Limited, at PSO House.
According to the agreement, PSO dealers will
deposit cash on the specially designed Cash Deposit Vouchers in
designated branches of HBL. The designated online branch would then
provide real time credit to the main collection account of PSO in
Karachi. The non-online branches would provide credit to the main
collection account of PSO within 24 hours.
HBL will also provide customized MIS support to PSO.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Tariq Kirmani thanked
PSO and HBL teams for structuring the cash management solutions
together. He said that PSO was working to automate its depots and
retail outlets. "We have synergies that can work to the advantage
of both organisations," he said.
The HBL president thanked the Managing Director of
PSO and his team for the development. He said that PSO's requirements
were demanding and sophisticated but HBL could still meet them. He
hoped to acquire more PSO business in future.
The system would be initially implemented at
Machike Depot in Lahore. Subsequently, it will be expanded to other

ENGRO HELPS FLOOD VICTIMS
Engro Chemical Pakistan Ltd has donated Rupees One
Million towards the Flood relief operations in Sindh. The donation
includes contribution by the Company, it's Employees and Company's
Joint venture partner Engro Vopak Terminal Ltd. (EVTL) to alleviate
the suffering of the people.
Engro's support is being extended through National
Rural Support Program (NRSP), a leading Non Profit Organization
engaged in relief activities in Thatta and Badin Districts where rains
and flood has inflicted heavy losses to the life and property of the
residents. The contribution will be utilized towards supply of
emergency medicines, drinking water purification and bed nets to
protect the affectees against malaria.
Mr. Gulsher Khan, presented the contribution to Dr.
Rashid Bajwa, Chief Executive of NRSP on behalf of Engro and EVTL. The
employees of Engro are closely coordinating the relief activities
along with NRSP in the flood hit areas.
