'BIZTEK" The Renaissance In Higher Education

Dec 31, 2001 - Jan 06, 2002

Today it is truer than ever before that the law of the land is "survival of the fittest". Third world countries including Pakistan face the same situation... even darker than the European countries when they were in dark ages. It is often said "Well Europe was in dark ages while the Islamic Empire was thriving". As a matter of fact it was Europe itself, which came out of the dark ages through Renaissance.

The period that began in Italy about 1300 A.D. dawned later in other European countries and ended during 1600 A.D. is known as the Renaissance.

Renaissance is a French word meaning "Rebirth".

The period received this name because of a rebirth of interest among Italian scholars in the learning and arts. There was reawakening of classical concern for beauty, for man and his destiny on earth.

During that era Europeans developed new scientific ideas and inventions, produced new literature and art and discovered new land and trade routes. They began to think about man and this world in entire different ways. One must understand the movement of the Renaissance if one wants to know why there is a first world and a third world. It is not only exploitation of the one by the other but also the enlightenment of one through another. We have brought that "Renaissance" to Pakistan by the name of "BIZTEK".

Affiliated with an internationally reputed Girne American University of northern Cyprus, BIZTEK is a dedicated effort towards redefining certain standards in higher education. A very strong emphasis is given on research and development. Owing to the very nature of the overseas affiliation and that too with a university of global vision, BIZTEK has an environment to facilitate the birth and growth of new ideas. Students are treated as scholars and their expression is well regarded whether it may be in finance, marketing or web page designing. The education at BIZTEK is a blend of conventionalism and "free thinking". Students are not only required to take courses in their respective majors. but are also made to take courses in Humanities, Sociology and fine arts. Thus cultivating in them well rounded, refined and sensitive individuals. Individuals who have their fingers on the nerves of future. Individuals who can rise and shine among the leaders in their respective fields, individuals who are strong enough at the same time to not only uplift themselves but also their countries, their nations and ultimately the entire human race. As the great scholar Sir Syed Ahmed Khan created "Mohammedan Scientific Society", BIZTEK has been created by very well experienced educationists and academicians as the first step towards the Renaissance in the Higher Education of Pakistan.
