With the efforts to bring down average lending rates in the country, the returns on deposits are also going down. Gone are the days when one could earn a decent income from investing in government securities. In the prevailing scenario small savers have to make prudent decision to maximize their return by diversifying their investment portfolio.

AGRICULTURE
 Agriculture Sector, the main pillar of the national economy in Pakistan is suffering from financial deficiencies on the part of banking sector. ADBP which is major credit provider to the farm sector also suffering from bad debt virus due to inefficiency and poor credit disbursement policy. The government has however warned to improve the recovery rate suffering from 40 per cent losses every year.

DRUG PRICES
The pharmaceutical industry of Pakistan is heading towards deregulation. The government has set up a committee, comprising officials of Ministry of Health, Ministry of Commerce and Ministry of Industries, to draft recommendations to deregulate the industry. Trade sources told PAGE that the committee has made a number of amendments in the Drug Act 1976 to deregulate the industry.
