PSO being fully committed to implement total quality management approach has achieved ISO 9000 certification for its six terminals while the balance storage would be made ISO compliant in the next couple of years. The company has strengthened its internal controls specifically in supply chain area by implementing computerized load acknowledgement system, which is aimed at preventing misappropriation of products in transit and ensures prompt delivery of products to customers and depots. To ensure proper supplies to local retail outlets, fleet management plan has been implemented at Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad, which would be extended gradually to other major cities of the country.

 

 

TEXTILE EXPORTS
 Pakistan has registered about 15% increase in export of textiles and clothing during the first quarter of current financial year. The most alarming fact is that this increase was achieved with drastic decline in unit price realization. Therefore, the myth of higher value addition has proved wrong.

ISLAND TECHNOLOGY PARK
 The launching ceremony of Pakistan's first Island Technology Park near Karachi was held when a Memorandum of Understanding was signed on the 14th of this month. The 300-acre island is given by the City District Government Karachi and the project include participation from a number of private companies, the finance for which will be provided by AccessCAPITAL, a venture capital company based in Thailand.
