Sir Adamjee Haji Dawood founded a unique
organization of Memon community through a historic and unprecedented
effort on 28th May 1933. This was the birth of an organization that
was to transform the highly enterprising but semi-illiterate and
tradition bound business community of the subcontinent into a
well-educated and progressive community. This historic movement was
"All India Memon Educational & Welfare Society".
In Pakistan the Society, under its old name,
continued to work for several years. On 26th January 1955, The
Pakistan Memon Educational & Welfare Society was constituted with
similar aims and objectives of providing higher education to the
nation. Adamjee Science College is one of the best colleges in the
country established by The Pakistan Memon Educational & Welfare
Society. Despite the nationalization, it is still rated as one of the
premier colleges of the country.
In 1999, after studying feasibility report, The
Pakistan Memon Educational & Welfare Society decided to establish
an institute of higher education in the field of Business Management
and Information Technology. Hence the society established Sir Adamjee
Institute of Technology in the honor of the great visionary Sir
Adamjee Haji Dawood.
Sir Adamjee Institute of Technology (SAIT),
registered under the license from Security & Exchange Commission
of Pakistan under section 42 of Companies Ordinance 1984, is located
at ST-11A Hussainabad Block-2, F.B. Area, Karachi. It has 11 members'
governing body.
SAIT was formally inaugurated by Lt. Gen. (R)
Moinuddin Haider, the Honorable Federal Minister of Interior on
February 12, 2000. During the inaugural ceremony, the objective of
SAIT was declared, unequivocally, to provide quality education at
affordable price to all Pakistanis, irrespective of their religion,
cast, creed or ethnicity. In short, we wish to contribute in educating
the masses and not in the commercial aspect of it.
The mission of the Sir Adamjee Institute of
Technology (SAIT) is, as Sir Adamjee said "to enrich the Muslim
Ummah with knowledge for progress and prosperity". The Institute
has set out to be an academic center of excellence in information
technology, teaching and research in software, hardware, robotics,
artificial intelligence, communications, business and advancements in
the field through well conceived and planned curricula of the highest
quality and a faculty consisting of experts in their own fields.
Sir Adamjee Institute of Technology is committed to
provide quality education under excellent, modern facilities, a
congenial environment so necessary for meaningful studies and a
provision for a constant adjustment to accommodate the advancements in
this field of science.
In short, it is the mission of SAIT to produce high
caliber professionals in Information Technology, possessing the skills
and the knowledge to meet the challenges of the new millennium.
The vision of SAIT is to convert itself into a
University where curriculum of International standards would be
taught. SAIT visualize its students to be so academically equipped as
to meet the challenges in the field of Information Technology. It is
also the vision of SAIT that it should be a HUB for all the Institutes
of Memon Community in the field of Business Management and Information
Technology.
The campus spreads over an area of two acres. It is
a spacious two-storied building with air-conditioned classrooms,
library, computer laboratories and an auditorium, with seating
capacity of 500, on the ground floor. The three huge green lawns have
made the Institute environment friendly. To cater to the needs of the
faculty and the students a book shop and a canteen is available. Ample
parking space is available within and outside boundary walls of the
institute. Sir Adamjee Institute of Technology has two power
generators, each having a capacity 100kw and 60kw, which makes it self
sufficient in power generation.
SAIT has applied for its own charter as degree
awarding institute to the respective government authorities. SAIT is
also trying to affiliate itself with a recognized and reputable
national/international university.
In the first phase, SAIT started to offer the
degree programmes in Computer Science & Business Administration.
The study programmes offered are based on the term system comprising

which comprise of entrance test and performance in the HSC

on continuous testing procedure during the entire study period.
Academic quality and standard will be ensured through independent
bodies within the organization.
