Holding convocation is almost a ritual at any
university. This year Greenwich University turned this occasion into a
great bonanza for all those who came to attend it. On the sandunes the
convocation city was created. The outgoing graduates were seated at an
elevated platform and came to receive the degrees, to some it looked
like catwalk or soap opera. Over 2000 audience were stunned by the
display, may be common at military academy, but students dressed for
the occasion marching on 'Greenwich Anthem' bewitched all. The
ceremony started and ended as per schedule, a very unlike Pakistani
event. The convocation was followed by dinner consisting of nearly 42
different types of dishes, to suit each and every one. For students
who had burnt their midnight candles, the perfect recreation was
offered in the form of a grand musical show. The event attended by
diplomats, CEOs of national and multinational companies and parents,
has been imprinted in memories and they may not be able see to an
action replay for years to come.
The Vice Chancellor, Greenwich University Ms. Seema
Mughal exhorted the students to prepare themselves to survive the
challenges of real life in the contemporary century.
Speaking at the University's convocation 2002, the
Vice Chancellor told the audience that the students who graduated from
Greenwich University were enjoying prestigious positions in business
and the industrial sector in the national and multinational companies.
The Vice Chancellor said the Greenwich was a
mission started by her brother Dr. Kamal Khan. She assured that his
mission will continue to guide the institution. She said this
Institution was established in 1987, and got its charter by Sindh
Government in 1998, and is recognized by University Grants Commission
as a degree awarding institution. The credit for the establishment of
this institution goes to Dr. Kamal Ahmed Khan, the University's Life
Chancellor, she stated that his vision continues to guide the
University in its march towards equipping the students with most
modern education to provide them rewarding careers.
One of the graduating members Farah Gazi presented
the valedictory address on behalf of the Graduating class followed by
the conferment of degrees to the Undergraduate and Graduate students.
The Vice Chancellor presented 51 Master of Business Administration and
70 Bachelor of Business Administration students for conferment of
On the recommendation of the Academic Council of
the Greenwich University students were awarded Gold and Silver Medals
who achieved the highest and second highest cumulative Grade Point
Average at Graduate and Undergraduate level. Greenwich Alumni
Excellence award was awarded to Mr. Imran Qureshi who is Regional
Sales Manager in ICI — Dulux Lahore.
