Status quo is the end of
the individuality or even the people collectively as a community
Dr.
Jamote
By AMANULLAH BASHAR
Feb 26 - Mar 04, 2001
Dr. Shafqat Ali Shah Jamote has said that Pakistan was made for a
purpose. It was a dream of the Muslims and their tireless efforts transformed that dream
into a reality. Now it is the responsibility of the younger generation to give new
meanings to that dream.
Dr. Jamote was addressing the students of Institute of Business
Administration (IBA) at the Annual Prize Distribution ceremony organized by the Executive
Students' Forum at the city campus on Feb 23, 2001.
Dr. Jamote advised the students that status quo is the end of the
individuality or even the people collectively as a community. Hence the life demands for
continuous struggle in life to live respectfully.
He said that IBA enjoys the reputation of producing graduates providing
agile and vibrant leadership in various walks of life especially in the financial,
economic and business sectors of the country.
Dr. Jamote said that currently Pakistan faces tough times due to
enormous challenges both internally as well as externally. The world is not friendly to us
it is now the responsibility of the young leadership to shoulder responsibilities to cope
with the situation.
Paying rich tributes to IBA which he said producing quality graduates
for the last 4 decades, he said that we have to keep our journey by pushing IBA in the
right direction.
Recalling the days when Dr. Jamote was one of the members of IBA's
board of the governors during 1975-78, he said that people in the board of the governors
did not cow down against the uncalled for impediments created against the growth of IBA
and rebelled for the good of IBA as they did not believe in the status quo.
He also paid glowing tributes to the students who received awards for
position holding in the class as well as outstanding performance and their extra
curricular activities. It is indeed a brilliant performance to secure a position in the
class besides justifying the extra curricular activities prominently. He said that the
society rightfully reposes confidence in their capabilities and expressed the hope that
they would not shake the confidence of the society. It is just a beginning, the successful
students have to go a long way to achieve the desired goals, he observed.
Earlier Dr. Javed Ashraf, newly appointed Director of IBA in his
welcome address appreciated the services of Dr. Shafqat Jamote for promotion of education
in general and for IBA in particular.
In recognition of Dr. Jamote services for the cause of IBA, the IBA
director invited Dr.Shafqat Jamote to rejoin the membership of the board of the governors
of IBA.
