To enter in the field of Multimedia and to explore
extremes of IT I found myself in a deep well.
Only solution I had in my mind was to give my full
attention to specific technology. Lots of people started giving me
instructions as per their own interest and next I was standing on the
same limits where I was about year ago. Suddenly I found very good
article about multimedia technology. My interest was more towards
drawing and animations and other artistic stuff I chose this technology
as my career/future and started working on it.
I started digging and digging down and finally got
the answer that this was what I wanted, but again this technology
requires hardworking and much more skills than any other IT related
field. But remember this was my interest and so I developed my future in
the field of my interest.
If you are crazy about computer and crazy about your
interest then you will find this article helpful in development of new
technology skills.
If you know anything about computers you might have
heard this word multimedia either its about multimedia CD or multimedia
processor from Intel or AMD so what it is? Is it hardware or software?
The answer is simple, this is not only hardware or software it's a
complete computer technology combining human efforts with computers.
Definition of multimedia
You can find several pages of books with answers to
the question what is multimedia one of my favorite definition is
"It's a seamless integration of two or more than two media elements
i.e. audio, video, text, graphics, animations with interactivity"
In many ways defining multimedia is like trying to
define desktop publishing, but worse. Most probably people would define
desktop publishing as the use of products as Adobe PageMaker or Quark
express to create materials that will be mass-produced. Writing a letter
with Microsoft word is generally not considered as desktop publishing.
But you could use Microsoft word to create flyer, brochure, or even
newsletter, which may well be considered desktop publishing.
So writing a letter and placing a graphics in that
letter probably does not qualify as creating multimedia, but writing a
letter and attaching a quick time movie to that letter probably does.
Simply multimedia is the use of five senses, with
your sixth sense using computer.
What is multimedia good for
Perhaps more important than definition is use of
multimedia. Multimedia is most often used for presentations, training
and education programs, sales demonstrations, museum kiosk, games,
interface designs, CAD CAM designing. But multimedia also can be used
for correspon-dence, artistic programs and even wedding invitations.
There is really no end what you can do with multimedia.
Can you do multimedia
If you are amazed by glittering world of commercial
video games or movies special effects, let me tell you its almost
impossible for one person to produce alone. You may want to specialize
in one or two areas for example sound and video, or may be animation or
3D works, or you may want to become Internet or web page multimedia
developer. Still there are many situations where you may be able to
produce the whole project yourself using inexpensive hardware. This is
most ideal technology for Pakistani people where they can implement
ideas and talent.
