In the kerb, the Rupee remained unchanged against the Green back and
made no major movement against the rival, prolonged the week with a
firm note and thus ended the week with a positive note for the fourth
consecutive week this month. The Rupee made swift grounds in the
trading and remained firm throughout the week on the desks against its
major rival, the Green back.

Comments:
Pound Sterling dominated the market this week as the currency marched
towards record highs against the Pak Rupee. The Rupee remained under
tremendous pressure against the Sterling in modest sessions of the
week as the currency remained quite strong on the international
trading desks and thus created its impact in the kerb too. The Pound
Sterling ended the week showing a gain of Rs. 2/90, which was a major
blow for the Rupee against the Sterling in the last few months of
trading.

In the open market this week the trading trend between Rupee and
German Mark remained normal and major change in the value of the
currencies was recorded till the close of the markets on Saturday.
The two currencies moved side-by-side and mere fluctuation in the
trading scores as part of the routine trend was recorded till the
close of the markets.

In the kerb, no major change
in the value of Yen was recorded against the Rupee as trading took
place at almost the last week's price and much deviation did not
come forward at the end of the week. In the international market,
the Yen fell a quarter per cent against the Dollar
