ICMAP: Passing-out ceremony



Entering 50th year of its existence

Professional Institutes are the one that provides the kind of intellect and the professional management that drive the country's economics towards prosperity. Their role cannot be ignored only at the cost of prosperity of the nation. This was said by Dr. Abdul Hafeez Sheikh, Minister for Finance, Planning & Development, Government of Sindh at the passing-out ceremony of Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Pakistan (ICMAP).

He said the future is getting complex everyday and requires visionary leadership combined with effective and efficient management. Only professional management can cope up with the present and future requirements.

He pointed out that the accounting is an important rather vital tool to document the economy, it would be in the interest of the country if the accounting bodies and the government find role of the accounting in the documentation of the economy. Similar roles and activities could be searched for establishing tax culture in Pakistan.

He congratulated the Institute for entering 50th year of its existence. He also appreciated efforts of the organizers and The Karachi Branch Council of the I.C.M.A.P. for developing the upcoming professional and congratulated the 70 passing out graduates and their parents in their successful completion of course.

Earlier speaking on the occasion M. H. Asif, President ICMAP, said the profession of management accountancy has come a long way during this period. Management Accountancy concept have been used extensively in computer software and are applied the world over for better management of affairs of public and private sector particularly in developed economies. It is of utmost importance that management accountancy be applied more extensively in Pakistan also. The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan has recognized the importance of Cost Audit and of CMA's as specialists in this area. CBR is also using our professional skills.

Earlier, Javed Iqbal Zia, Chairman Karachi Branch Council gave a preview of the historical background of the Institute.
