Physical Facilities — The Campus

The diversity of educational background and individual differences of the students creates a busy, stimulating and a lively environment at the campus. The Institute has recently moved to its new campus which houses sufficient lecture rooms, a well-equipped computer lab, a library and research center in addition to the facilities of a cafeteria, indoor games, ladies common rooms, administration block and related facilities.

This campus will gradually be expanded to house other departments. Korangi Campus is located 20 minutes from the Shahrah-e-Faisal and is easily accessible to all. There are numerous bus routes available to access the campus at any times.

Transport Facility: In order to facilitate the commuting problem, the Institute has organised a bus service from all Major vicinities of the city. This will ensure timely arrival of students to the campus and parents need not worry about security or allied problems.

The library: Keeping in view the research requirements of the students, the Institute library subscribes to several national and international journals. In addition it houses well over 4000 books on different topics and subject which fall under the categories of curriculum and light reading. The Institute Library has a complete up-to-date record of all the relevant Government Publications.

It is further planned that in future, the library will be completely computerized and will be directly on-line with the leading libraries of the world, so that information can easily be retrieved in a matter of seconds. In addition to this, the Institute Library contains a complete record of back dated newspapers. This record is also being stored on compact diskettes, making data easily accessible.

Students get a personal copy of "Pakistan & Gulf Economist" and "Spider" to keep them abreast with the latest development in their areas of interest.

The computer lab: The computer lab at PAF-KIET is equipped with state of the art IBM compatibles having Pentium configuration with PCI architecture. The Institute's computer lab currently houses an adequate number of computers all of which are interconnected through a LAN network and are also on-line via satellite linkage with the entire world through the internet.

Recreational facilities: The recreational facilities that are provided to the students of PAF-KIET are based on the concept that a healthy mind requires a healthy body. For this purpose, light recreational and entertainment facilities have been incorporated into the Institute Life. Students are encouraged to organize activities such as Table Tennis, Badminton; outdoor games like Cricket, Basketball, Football and Volley Ball. Entertainment events like Fun Fares, Musical Evenings, Stage Dramas and a host of other activities are planned on a yearly basis.

Student Life: Student life is always remembered with an air of nostalgia. Throughout this stage every person keeps on picking up mementos that he/she cherishes forever. Hence, at PAF-Karachi Institute of Economics and Technology (PAF-KIET) we believe that we should be providing a healthily and competitive environment to the students.

Korangi Campus: PAF-KIET is housed in a custom built campus. The planning of any educational complex is similar to the planning of a micro urban community. Hence apt consideration is necessary in planning of departments, cultural social patterns, communication transportation trends, safety and security, added expansion facility in clean environment. At the same time due consideration to the technological evolution in the building trends and construction technology is necessary for a modern campus.

The present site will be expanded to include the construction of Students' Hostel, Mosque, Auditorium, Parks, and Sports facilities. The construction of academic and administrative blocks for various, faculties and departments is also proposed:

The salient features of the proposed master plan are to optimally use land, keeping large green and open spaces, suitably dividing development stages such that the Campus would appear complete even during the process of expansion. Keeping the challenges of the times ahead of us and the conservation requirements, the proposed project will be responsive to ecology and other conditions. Since there is no paucity of space, development of other projects can be undertaken without disturbing the academic calendar.
