First Convocation of the Greenwich University, Pakistan

Mar 13 - 26, 2000

The occasion was marked by the absence of its Founder and Life Chancellor Dr. Kamal Ahmed Khan

The first convocation of the Greenwich University, Pakistan was held recently. Degrees were awarded to over 200 graduates in Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Science. The day was marked by the absence of Founder and Life Chancellor of the University, Dr. Kamal Ahmed Khan. Greenwich University in Pakistan is in fact the realization of the dream, vision and untiring efforts of Dr. Kamal.

The Vice Chancellor of Greenwich University, Seema Mughal, in her address referred to a saying, "Great Men have a place in eternity. No one can tell where their influence stops" and then said, "Dr. Kamal is one such man, who didn't only have the ability to have dreams larger than dreams of ordinary people but also the insight and extraordinary skill to put dreams into realities."

"At Greenwich, we have a belief and a vision. The belief is that education is the soul of a society. Any weakness in the soul results in degradation of the society's value system and brings unmanageable chaos. We are extremely proud to have made a difference in many people's lives and helped to build many careers. The graduates from this university get prestigious jobs in multinational companies and leading local business houses. This is an achievement as a result of the realization of our purpose and mission" the Vice Chancellor added.

Commenting on the prevailing scenario, Seema Mughal said, "As a nation we have had our successes and lapses — our joys and sorrows. We have truly justified apprehensions about future — our future and more importantly the future of our children. We have had our share of troubles and turbulence. Every challenge and test imposed on us has given us more strength. Let's turn all negative tides and make a difference. If we can do that the future is ours."

Referring to information technology she said, "We are fully aware that the information technology is not a mere happening in history but it is more importantly an cata-clys-mic. It is constantly affecting the reorganizing and restructuring of our domestic business as well as the order of international business. We are part of this revolution. We are committed to playing a leading role in developing sound, intellectually superior and skilful humans. We shall soon be launching programmes in the field of Developmental Sciences."

Congratulating the successful students and reminding the graduates she said, "I am delighted to see bright faces. This is indeed the day of achievement and rejoicing. This day is the culmination of the hard work of a number of years, meticulous planning and sacrifices. I would like to stress the need for maintaining a strong character, value system and ethical business practices. It is also my desire that all graduates of Greenwich University involve themselves in community and social work. Let us build a strong and prosperous Pakistan."
