Sukkur IBA started its journey as a Business School, initially affiliated to IBA Karachi, in 1995. Two rooms in the Public School Sukkur was the pioneering place. Sukkur IBA got its own charter as public sector degree awarding Institute in year 2006. Now by the grace of Almighty Allah Sukkur IBA has very beautiful building, and state-of-art equipment. Our purpose is to develop strength in faculty, assist business organizations by consultancy and creating research and congenial environment, fulfilling our commitment to community in building national character and economic development. Sukkur IBA has taken strides and grown into the center of excellence and ranked as 4th best business school in Pakistan (2nd best business school in public sector) by HEC in 2012 QS (Quality Standards) Ranking. About 2500 students are studying at Sukkur IBA in various programs, in which 40% students are girls, who mainly come from the rural areas. Our objective is to produce very competitive and employable graduates, keeping in view the market needs.

Sukkur IBA has a distinction of producing graduates, all of whom get jobs. Not simply jobs, but positions in well reputed organizations/ multinational with handsome salary package. This is the market-recognition of the high academic standards of Sukkur IBA. 15 Batches have graduated from Sukkur IBA up till now. 98% of them are employed.

The second distinction of IBA Sukkur is its fee structure. Sukkur IBA has been conceived and designed to help the poor-talented students of less- fortunate parents. The fee structure is quite subsidized. It would transpire that Sukkur IBA subsidizes to great extent. Apart from this Sukkur IBA is committed to help the poor. No student will go out of Sukkur IBA due to financial constraint. In fiscal year 2011-12 Rs. 49.588 million are spent in shape of scholarships to the needy and meritorious students.

The role of a university as a leader for social change is being increasingly focused all over the world. Sukkur IBA has not only realized this need but has taken innovative initiatives. Some of them are briefly described as under:

In our country the access of students, belonging to poor families, to quality education, is quite small and scanty. Sukkur IBA has successfully addressed this problem and reduced the discrimination between rich and poor. Different measures have been taken to ensure that no one is denied access to quality education because of his financial position.

They have two barriers to cross access quality education. Sukkur IBA by introducing foundation program has successfully addressed this dilemma.

The students coming from rural areas and belonging to poor and middle class families suffer from two poverties.

I) Financial Poverty
II) Academic Poverty

The students belonging to poor and middle class families cannot afford to join costly private schools and therefore are compelled to go to government schools in rural areas. Most of the teachers in government schools have been appointed for any consideration except merit. Absenteeism is rampant in government schools in rural areas. The result is that the students who are carrying a certificate of intermediate with "A" grade, if put to test, their level of efficiency will not be above 8th class. This is the dilemma to which poor students are doomed.

Sukkur IBA has come up with innovate initiative of Community Colleges. These community colleges are established in the Jacobabad, Dadu, Naushahro Feroze and Khairpur Mir's. These districts have been identified as it is surrounded by backward districts of Sindh (Pakistan). The total population of these districts is 10.4433 million (source: population welfare department Government of Sindh Youth (15-35years) are about 40 % of the total population.
