NAZIM KARACHI REVIEWS MEASURES FOR GREEN CITY CAMPAIGN

Nazim Karachi Syed Mustafa Kamal has directed parks department to further speed up the "Green City" campaign by planting more trees and making greenery on all old and newly constructed roads in the city.
He was addressing a meeting to review the measures which have been taken during the current tree planting and greenery campaign in Karachi.
The City Nazim said that the government was giving special attention to social sector and it would provide exemplary facilities to citizens in the social sector during the current fiscal year. The target of planting over one and half lac trees in the city by the end of December would be achieved through extraordinary efforts.
He said that the Haq Parast leadership has promoted social sector besides carrying out mega development projects even in odd times.
Nazim Karachi said that budget for the current fiscal year has been termed as environment friendly budget in which a total of Rs.1.8 billion were earmarked for improvement in the environmental conditions.
He also directed the concerned department to accelerate the pace of work on the beautification of all those roads which have been already completed and opened for vehicular traffic.
The City Nazim was on this occasion informed through a briefing that the parks department has so far planted more than 80 thousand florid trees during the Green City campaign while by December it would achieve the target of planting over one and half lac trees in the city.
Nazim Karachi was told that so far 15 thousand trees have been planted at the Sharea Faisal while a further 10 thousand trees will also be planted at this important corridor within next few days. Besides the parks department has planted 15 thousand trees at University Road, 10 thousand trees at Bagh Ibne Qasim, 1200 trees at New M.A Jinnah Road, 3 thousand trees at Shahra-e-Ibn-e-Sina( from Liaquatabad No.10 to Nazimabad), 7 thousand trees each at Karsaz Road and Rashid Minhas Road and over 20 thousand trees at Shahra-e-Pakistan.
The City Nazim on this occasion directed officers of parks department that besides planting trees they should also make all arrangements for their protection so that the dream for making Karachi a green city could be fulfilled.
He said that the Haq Parast leadership will carry on serving the city despite all odds and it would continue to give more development projects to citizens of Karachi.

Wireless Video Security Surveillance Network

City District Government Karachi launched Wireless Hybrid Video Security Surveillance Project in January 2008 and moved with great speed to complete the first phase in June 2008. The whole project took only six months to complete with all International standards.
Wireless Video Security Surveillance project is unique and this is the first of its kind in Pakistan.
The wireless network coverage area is 36 Sq Km, with fiber optic back up, mainly 50-54 cameras are covering two main arteries of City known as Corridor I signal free Corridor ( Site Habib Bank to Karsaz bridge Shahra Faisal ) & Corridor II signal free corridor ( Nagan Chorangi to Drigh Road Bridge Shara Faisal )
The Broader objective of the Projects:
1. Improve the physical security of Citizen through video security cameras.
2. Monitor the traffic flow and clear congestion on the roads and introduce the traffic management system through world best available technology.
3. Guard the CDGK infrastructure such as flyovers, under passes and bridges.
4. Keep the general crime under control.
5. Mobile CDGK work force effectively to resolve the civil work issue and speed up its civil work in order to complete and delivered the project on time.
6. Closely coordinate and work with Traffic police along with Sindh crime Police in command and control center in order to response to law & order situation effectively.
7. In Phase 2 of this project we will install LPR (License Plate Recognition) Biometric Face Recognition and RFID, it will be very easy to identify movements on streets of individuals, cars and other type of transit measure. Also it will be difficult for anyone to evade the law enforcement.
This entire project was inspired by the fact that it is the need of the time. Technology if properly implemented can very effectively give results which would have been impossible to accomplish. The CDGK has always believed in this method of delivery where a proper system is placed so that the continuity is guaranteed and professionals are bought in to do things effectively. This project will eventually provide so much security, information and safety to citizens of Karachi that it will not only bring down crime rate but improve the overall delivery and performance of Public officials. We believe that this projects growth is unlimited and a pillar in any city's environment given the current condition of the world.
CITY GOVT. MAKES SPECIAL ARRANGEMENTS FOR CONTROL OF DENGUE VIRUS.

Health workers perform fumigation spray in North Karachi Town.
Karachi. Sep 09: On the directives of Nazim Karachi Syed Mustafa Kamal, City District Government Karachi has taken various measures to control the spread of dengue virus and provide better treatment facilities to sufferers.
The health department has also made arrangements for proper, timely and effective surveillance of the disease besides the compilation of complete record of the dengue fever patients in all private and government hospitals. Supply of special nets and monitoring of dengue fever patients was also arranged so that other peoples could be saved from the virus. Free diagnosis facility for dengue fever and availability of medicines with no cost also arranged at some hospitals of city government.
The health department was also performing fumigation spray in all towns of Karachi during Ramadan with a special squad for vector control and insecticide spray team.
Besides the provision of accurate information regarding dengue fever and supply of test kits, platelets and free medicines, the city government has also provided toll free number 1339 for any information and help regarding control of dengue virus.
Meanwhile the spray team of health department of city government performed fumigation spray in all union councils of North Karachi Town. The Town Nazim Muhammad Zulfiqar inaugurated spray campaign. He said that the regular fumigation spray in all towns of city has minimized the number of malaria patients and the citizens have been benefited from this program. He also thanked City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal for working not only for the reconstruction of Karachi but also for better and health environment in the city.
He asked the residents of North Karachi Town to personally monitor the spray in their area and register their complaints at complaints center 1339.
DEVELOPMENT PROCESS WILL CONTINUE DESPITE ALL ODDS: NAZIM KARACHI

Karachi. Sep 18: City District Government will take on projects of three flyovers at signal free corridor-III immediately after completion of remaining work on corridor-II.
This was stated by Nazim Karachi Syed Mustafa Kamal during a visit to ongoing works of Gulshan and Nagan Chowrangi Flyover and Shahra-e-Pakistan on late night Wednesday.
The City Nazim on this occasion directed the officers of works and services department to further accelerate pace of work on both the flyovers of corridor-II so that the projects could be opened for traffic before Eid-ul-Fitr. He said that the Haq Parast leadership of the city government has continued the development process in Karachi despite of all odds and it would carry on this journey to progress.
This was the second visit of Nazim Karachi Syed Mustafa Kamal to these projects during which the officers of works and services department and representatives of contractor and consultant firm also accompanied him. He also directed the officials of city government to carry on work on all development projects without delay.
He observed that the unusual holdup in the development works causes raised cost and more difficulties to citizens, therefore, he said we did not allowed any delay in these works and will present more completed projects to citizens on this Eid.
The City Nazim while inspecting the ongoing work of road construction beneath the Nagan Chowrangi Flyover, directed concerned officials to finish these roads under Nagan and Gulshan Chowrangi Flyover before Eid-ul-Fitr also so that all development work of corridor-II could also be completed. He also instructed the officers to further speed up the construction of storm water drain and surrounding roads as the beautification work could not be completed without the finishing of ground work.
Nazim Karachi instructed the officers of W&S to bring about more improvement in the monitoring of work and submit their report on daily basis. He also directed the engineers of work and services department to identify more roundabout in the city for future development works so that all homework could be completed in advance before the start of actual work.
