KARACHI CLUBS
Most of the social and athletic clubs allow

KARACHI BEACHES
Karachi is well known for it’s beaches, and
rightfully so. Our beaches are fabulously beautiful, and there is
nothing better than a day at the beach.
Clifton Beach
French Beach
Hawks Bay
Sand Spit
Paradise Point
CLIFTON BEACH
This is the most visited as it is the only beach that
is in the immediate city, close that is. All the other ones are farther
away. Although it is quite polluted, it is still beautiful, and is a
nice place to go, for a peaceful walk on the beach.
FRENCH BEACH
This is the finest beach in Karachi. The water is
clean and the air is crisp. There are gorgeous rocks embedded in the
ocean. The waves splashing against them is quite a lovely sight. Right
down the road from there is Paradise Point, that sports a marvelous view
of the ocean from a eroded hill. A great place to go for a mixture of
beauty and excitement!
HAWKS BAY
A wonderfully sunny and sandy beach. The water is
clean and if you need a tan, it is the beach to go to. The huts allow
total privacy and the view is magnificent. If you dont owna hut no
matter, they have huts for rent. It is definitely worth it. It is a non
rocky area portion of our coast so it is the best beach to take the
family. A must see in Karachi.
SAND SPIT
Quite near
hawksbay, it is pretty much the same. A
good place for turtle watching and a good view!! Completely unpolluted
and positively beautiful. If you go at night there are turtles all over
the place. If you are careful, you might even get a ride on one of them.
PARADISE POINT
Almost at the limit of the Sindh province, Paradise
point lives up well to it's name. It is afairly rocky region, so no
swimming can be done there, never the less it has a lot f other things
going for it. The fact that the water is very clear and you can see to
the bottom of the rocky pools there is just one of them. A caution
though. Because it is so rocky it can also be dangerous so be careful if
you are heading down there.
KARACHI GARDEN

In 1869 this piece of land was handed over to the
Municipal Committee for converting it into a Public garden. The plan and
the design of the garden was prepared by Mr. Birdwood. Bery soon it was
opened for public. In 1893 a Zoo was also constructed in the garden. The
design of the Zoological Garden was prepared by Mr. Bird with the help
of Mr. James Strachan and Mr. Flinch.
1960-61 the Municipal Corporation constructed a
double storied market around the boundary of the park. Shops on the
ground floor and offices on the first floor were constructed to generate
income for the garden. This market has affected the beauty of the park
and the traffic pressure has also increased in this area.

is just as wonderful. There is a great variety of food and the
atmosphere very pleasant. A nice place to go for dinner. The prices are
high, but the food is worth it.
ROOF TOP

savoring a magnificent view of the city, Karachi!! You can do it here.
The Avari Roof Top, is a restaurant situated on the roof of a 20
something story building. The prices are moderate, and the service is
good. There is always a steady cool breeze, an aroma of freshly cooked
food is stimulating along with the overpowering scent of Karachi.A

KARACHI BAZARS
The Bazaars and malls of Karachi are among the sites
which give it a unique identity. Karachi provides the shopper with exquisite quality products at very
reasonable prices. So if you are an avid shopper or a bargain hunter
Karachi is the place.
BAZARS
Those of you who would like to shop Karachi style or for the local
kind of stuff checkout these bazaars
Empress Market
Bohri Bazaar
Zainab Market
Co-operative Market
Empress Market
This huge, bustling Pakistani market is located in
Saddar. It is essentially a food market and sells all manner of products
from fruit and vegetables to fish, poultry and red meat as well as
canned/tinned goods, housewares and spices. Shopping there is a real
experience although, as the market is very large, it can be a little
intimidating. We suggest that you make your first visit with a friend
who shops there regularly.
Coolies (men who for a small fee will carry all your
shopping) wait outside. Many people have a specific coolie whom they use
on every visit. The meat halls can become unpleasant in the hot season.
Many people therefore ask their coolie to bring their meat/fish order to
them while they are shopping for vegetables etc., to save them having to enter the meat halls.
Friends can recommend coolies who have regularly
provided them with good meat. The spice hall is worth visiting (and
photographing) with high cone shaped piles of the various spices. Dried
fruits and nuts are always available in abundance and many of the small
grocer stalls occasionally get imported goods which are not available in
the Clifton shops. Remember, the meat halls close on meatless days
although fish and chicken are still sold.
Bohri Bazaar
Close to Empress
market, this bazaar comprises hundreds of small shops in a maze of
narrow streets which sell a whole variety of goods, ranging from
housewares, pots and pans, crockery, cutlery, plastic items, silk
flowers cottons, sheets, buttons, threads and all sewing requirements.
On the main road is a shop which sells embroidery threads. As it is easy
to get lost here, again we would suggest that you make your first visit
with a friend who knows her way around. Do not forget to bargain. It is
amazing what can be found in
this bazaar including second hand designer label swimsuits!
Zainab Market
This market is a real Aladdin’s cave. It sells
mainly traditional Pakistani handicrafts and has a huge range of silk
paintings, onyx, hangings, bedspreads, Kashmiri shawls, papier-mâché,
etc. Remember that this is where a lot of tourists shop and the initial
price quoted to you could be two or three times higher then the real price. Bargain hard. One part of this market
also sells cheap ready made western clothes fir ladies, gents and
children shorts, T shirts, leggings blouses, etc. Although the quality
is often not high, they are cheap and suitable for the hot weather here.
Co-operative Market
This market is slightly further down Abdullah Haroon
Road from Zainab. Shops are located on two levels and they sell a
variety of Pakistani wares, from onyx to brass, wood carvings, lower
quality of other wooden items, men’s clothing material, shawls, etc.
Like Zainab, this market caters to tourists. Be prepared to bargain.
