AMD RYZEN MOBILE APU BENCHMARKS LEAKED- 90% FASTER THAN PREVIOUS-GEN:

Benchmarks for AMD’s upcoming Raven Ridge APUs featuring the Zen CPU & Vega GPU microarchitectures have spotted online. The mobile Ryzen family of chips is expected to launch within the next couple of months, ahead of the holiday season.

PAKISTANI CHRISTIAN SENTENCED TO DEATH FOR SENDING A BLASPHEMOUS WHATSAPP TEXT:

A Christian namely Nadeem James was charged and arrested in July last year when his Muslim friend filed a complaint against him stating that the accused, now the culprit, had sent him a poem on WhatsApp in which derogatory remarks were written against Islam, Our Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.W), and other holy figures.

SAUDI ARABIA TO UNBLOCK SKYPE,WHATSAPP & VIBER WITHIN A WEEK:

Good news for Pakistani emigrants in Saudi Arabia. The country has announced that it will be unblocking Skype, WhatsApp & Viber, a development that is sure to make the lives of the many emigrants easier who live and work in Saudi Arabia.

JAZZ MIGHT INVEST IN LOCAL STARTUPS:

Jazz is rolling out to buy out startups, completely or maybe partially, during days to come, said Aamir Ibrahim, CEO of Jazz in an exclusive interview with ProPakistani. Jazz has been interested heavily in startups through Jazz Xlrt — after its deal with National Incubation Center and other incubators — as it aims to create a platform where startups could be taken to the next level.

INTEL TO LAUNCH ICE LAKE 8 CORE, 16 THREAD MAINSTREAM CPUS LEAKED:

Intel is busy in preparing a new series of processors which will further improve the core count of their mainstream platform. The said processor lineup is planned to be launched in second half of 2018 and it might be making use of the latest 10nm process technology (report says).

JAZZCASH AND PAKISTAN RAILWAY TO FACILITATE CUSTOMERS WITH ONLINE TICKETING:

JazzCash and Pakistan Railways recently signed an agreement to facilitate the payment of online ticket fees across the country. Customers can now book their tickets online through the Pakistan Railways website or Pakistan Railways Mobile App, after which they would be able to pay for their booked e-tickets via JazzCash Mobile Accounts, JazzCash agents or debit/credit card of any bank.

KARANDAAZ PROVIDING GRANT FOR DIGITIZATION OF NATIONAL SAVINGS:

Karandaaz Pakistan, an initiative to support financial inclusion and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) is providing a grant of USD 2.3 million to a digitization project of the  Central Directorate of National Savings (National Savings).

The digital divide separating developed and developing nations is in danger of becoming a chasm, warns a UN report. The divide has grown thanks to accelerating net connection speeds in developed nations and static ones elsewhere, it said.

FACEBOOK TO TRIM ADVERT CATEGORIES AIMED AT ‘ANTI-SEMITES’:

Facebook is reviewing its ad targeting system after investigators found they could direct ads to self-described anti-Semites. Researchers at ProPublica found several ad categories for people who had declared that they “hated” Jews.

ANGRY BIRDS MAKER ROVIO TARGETS $1BN VALUATION:

The mobile games developer behind Angry Birds expects to be worth about $1bn when it lists on the stock market. Rovio has set a range for its share sale that would value the business at between 802m euros and 896m euros ($960m-$1.07bn; £710m-£795m).

MICROSOFT CONFIRMS OUTLOOK ISSUES:

Microsoft has confirmed that some users of its email service Outlook are unable to send email or access their accounts. Hundreds from around Europe have commented on the website Downdetector that they have been affected by the problem – many since Monday morning.

VISITORS ‘HELP’ PIRATE BAY MINE VIRTUAL CASH:

The Pirate Bay briefly put code on some of its web pages that used visitors’ machines to mine a virtual currency. The hidden code helped the file-sharing site generate coins for the Monero digital currency.

ALERT OVER BOOBY-TRAPPED SECURITY SOFTWARE:

A security company has issued a warning after its software was compromised by malicious hackers. Piriform told users a booby-trapped version of its CCleaner software had been made available in August and September.

UBER SORRY FOR ‘WIFE APPRECIATION DAY’ PROMOTION:

Uber has apologised after being accused on social media of sexism in a promotional message sent to customers in Bangalore. The message urged “husbands” to “let your wife take a day off from the kitchen”, with a discount on its Uber Eats food delivery service.

GOOGLE FACES LAWSUIT OVER REMOVING GAB FROM PLAY STORE:

Social network Gab has filed a lawsuit against Google for removing it from Play, the Android app store. Gab describes itself as a platform dedicated to free speech and has become popular with the alt-right.

GOOGLE LAUNCHES INDIA MOBILE PAYMENTS APP TEZ:

Google has launched a mobile payments app in India that will work on both Android and Apple smartphones. Tez allows users to make money transfers to each other and to buy goods from physical stores and mobile websites.
